How to get the most out of your outdoor living space

Having an outdoor TV in your backyard sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? You can watch the big game while flipping burgers, or stream your favorite show while lounging on a pool float. But you can’t just install an indoor TV outside. You have to purchase an outdoor TV and have it professionally installed to avoid shocks and other dangers.

But if you have the time, supplies and knowledge, you can attempt the job yourself. Here are steps to follow for outdoor TV installation.

Steps: Installing a TV Outside

  1. Using a level for the bracket, make marks for drilling.
  2. Drill holes to hold the mounting bracket.
  3. Hammer the plastic anchors into the holes.
  4. Mount the bracket using lag bolts and an open-end wrench. Secure the bolts.
  5. You may have to run HDMI cable from indoors, depending on what your current setup looks like.
  6. Insert and secure the HDMI cable housing with screws and a screw driver.
  7. Clip the bracket clips onto the TV.
  8. Hook the bracket clip onto the wall bracket, securing it with the nut and bolt and tightening it with a wrench.
  9. Use an IR repeater to get a signal from your indoor television setup if needed. Place the IR repeater on top of the outdoor HDMI cable, plugging it into the HDMI port.
  10. Mount the repeater on the TV.
